A Glimpse of the Exhibition
The Vaquero Poblador gallery in Badajoz, in the same building as the Provincial Council, houses the exhibition of paintings and drawings by the figurative painter Javier Arizabalo, a leading exponent of the current realist painting being done in Spain.
Most of the works correspond to the last year and a half of his production, with works focused on the body, generally female, immersed in the landscape or in chiaroscurist interior treatments.
The illumination of the figure with strong lights and dense shadows, provides interest in delighting in the singularities of anatomy, its imperfections, or even in human pain.
It is one of the few opportunities to visit in person works, sometimes called photorealist, a segment of art that has almost disappeared from commercial galleries, contemporary art museums and Fairs, due to mainly commercial factors.
White Night
The exhibition was inaugurated on September 5th, two days before the "white night" in Badajoz, during which the city takes to the streets to enjoy the multitude of scheduled shows, openings of exhibitions and museums. The exhibition of Javier Arizabalo's works received hundreds of visitors that one night.
